Filippos Tatakis is a Berlin based painter from Thessaloniki, Greece. Combining traditional oil painting techniques with contemporary airbrush and acrylic applications he reconstructs familiar landscapes into spaces for contemplation and invitations for introspection. His paintings are characterised by soft idyllic backgrounds, hosting the traces of destructive events, revealing the fragile coexistence of agony and redemption. Tatakis’ works evoke suspended moments in which destruction and transformation become inseparable, questioning the role of violence in contemporary society while reflecting on the invisible hierarchy structures that shape collective perception. Showcasing his works in the Berlin and broader German art scene, Filippos Tatakis has exhibited his work in a solo show in Otte1, Eckenfoerde and has also taken part in various groups shows. Parallel to his practice in Germany, he remains active in the Athenian art scene.
